Is customer service becoming customer dis-service? Part 1

Ask yourself this question: "Have I ever had a negative experience when I have called a customer service call centre?" I will bet the answer you give will be "Yes!"
It seems like more and more call centres are supplying their customers with negative customer service. Have the days of calling a company and speaking to a live human being who speaks to you respectfully, with manners and with the focus on being helping you with your questions and concerns gone the way of the Dodo bird? It feels like that. I, personally, have had many negative experiences in dealing with large corporations and their customer service staff. It almost seems as if many major companies no longer care if their customers are happy, they want their bottom line to be about numbers, which their customers have become. It's as of they no longer care what is good for the customers, only what is good for their bank accounts. But what they seem to be over looking is that by treating their customers this way it makes for unhappy customers. And unhappy customers make for negative word-of-mouth advertising, which is one of, if not the most detrimental things that affects your business.
So, how then, do you prevent this from happening to your company? Well the answer is simple: ensure your customer service reps are making your customers feel like they are the most important people in the world to your business, which they are! The old saying still rings true, "The customer is always right." Even if they are wrong, and you know they are, you still make them feel like they are right and come to a suitable conclusion for their needs without making them feel dismissed and ingored. Believe it or not, that is not hard to achieve.

More to come.
